Rethinking Revisions
A revision just swaps out one set of bylaws for another, right?
This interactive 75-minute workshop will cover many aspects of revising bylaws, including:
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of revising the bylaws?
- How can you minimize the risk of opening up your bylaws to amendments?
- How can you handle those "nasty surprises"?
- Should only a special committee propose a revision?
- What can a consulting parliamentarian provide their client during the revision process?
- Are there any differences between the way AIPSC and RONR handle revisions?
- What is a safe, logical process to provide a successful revision?
Questions and answers will be taken both during and at the end of the workshop.
This workshop is approved for 1.5 CEUs on behalf of the National Association of Parliamentarians for NAP credential renewal
About the Speaker:
Colette Collier Trohan holds a unique set of credentials: a master’s degree in nonprofit management, the Certified Association Executive credential from the American Society of Association Executives, and the Professional Registered Parliamentarian and Certified Professional Parliamentarian-Teacher credentials. She consults on all types of association governance issues, including bylaws, policies, training, presiding, minutes, and meeting preparation. With over 30 years of helping clients in just about every organizational situation, Colette approaches each situation with flexibility, a balanced perspective, and a sense of humor.
